Using Dynamic Translation on your Website
What is Dynamic Translation?
Unlike a manual translation, Dynamic Translation happens "on the fly". An entire webpage or portions of it are sent to a translation
program and the automated results are returned to the user. There is no human interaction and the content will be translated from
the root language to the new language each time, rather than a single time, like a manual translation.
This process is often quite slow. Normally, the pre-written webpage is downloaded from the main server directly to the user's computer.
With Dynamic Translation, the content is downloaded from your webserver, to another webserver, where it is processed and then
sent to the user.
The results of Dynamic Translation vary, but they are quite effective at getting the meaning across. For the most part, a person
who does not speak the native language of the website will see that the text is obviously from a machine, but often that is
all that is necessary.
How does LanguageCache interact with DynamicTranslation?
Dynamic translation is an incredibly complex field. Currently, the leader in the field is Systrans. Their translations are quite good
and they have years more experience in this field than any other competitor. Unfortunately, their service is quite expensive, starting
at $810/year for a single language.
Google is now offering a free translation tool which is quite good, and works in an entirely different
way. Google's program allows you to pick and choose sentenses and phrases from your webpage and send them to their server for translation
after the page has downloaded. The program that LanguageCache has developed works in a similar fashion, swaping the text after the
page has downloaded. Once your custom text has been added, we simply tell Google to go handle the rest of the page.
